I've ran xcountry a few times, in grades three, four, five and eight. I didn't try out this year (grade nine) because it was pretty much my **** up year to do whatever, haha. Anyways, i'm pretty out of shape even though i was a decent runner in grade eight. so i want tips on training things like;
- the easiest way to breathe that wont make you tired. (i find breathing in through your nose out through your mouth makes you more tired?)
- breathing exercises to improve lung capacity
- how to keep posture
- a running diet
- things to speed up the recovery
- mentally + physically how to keep your self going
- shoes
and pretty much anything you can think of to help me improving my running.
but for the actual training part im training like CRAZY, im training twice a day monday-friday light runs in the morning, all out in the evenings and then one good run saturday and sunday resting day.
Wednesdays are hills.
if you have anything to add to that tell me?
thankss. :)
Answer on Cross country training tips?
if you're out of shape i would highly suggest that you only run once a day, that much running will put you at a high risk for injury and overtraining. go to runnersworld. com to fill out a shoe profile based on your arch type and needs, it will give you a list of great shoes that are perfect for you, get more rest and plenty of sleep to speed recovery, good protein like grilled chicken is good for muscle recovery as well, i just breathe through my mouth the whole time cause thats just what feels natural for me, do whatever feels natural for you, for breathing exercises i use a powerlung but if you don't feel like spending about $100 then i would suggest practicing deep breathing and holding it for a couple seconds before exhaling. do core routines to improve your posture and make you faster, again runnersworld. com has lots of videos of ab exercises, read a running book or get online to read motivational articles, talk to other runners, or try running in a new place to keep your mind in it. try to sings songs in your head to keep your mind off of how tired you may be, bring a friend along to talk to on your runs, running with people will keep you going
hope this helps
